Craig Heartwell was appointed Chief Technology Officer of OnDialog, Inc. on 1 February 2008. Heartwell leads an agile product development team that is aggressively expanding OnDialog’s on-demand products and services. Between February 2008 and June 2008, Heartwell’s team completely redesigned and rebuilt the predecessor application, Plurapage, to provide a platform for continued growth through development and integration. Heartwell works closely with customers and partners to ensure that OnDialog is addressing key market needs whether through technology, information or relationships, and he uses this knowledge to establish product vision, manage partner integration opportunities and to educate both marketers and consumers on what is possible with technology now and in the future.
Heartwell joined OnDialog from Lightspoon, Inc., an independent consulting practice, where he was responsible for marketing and promoting the application of large-scale intelligent video security solutions. In that position he assisted both contractors and government agencies addressing global security and anti-terrorism initiatives in metropolitan transportation systems, cruise lines and United States airports.
Prior to Lightspoon, Heartwell held leading positions at IPIX, ObjectVideo, Aurora Enterprise Solutions and SAIC. At IPIX, Heartwell was responsible for evangelizing business applications of video surveillance and the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to maintain privacy and prevent abuse of surveillance data. As vice president of engineering and later chief strategy officer, Heartwell succeeded in turning around a failed dot.com play by re-purposing object-based compression to create VEW - an award winning video security application, making ObjectVideo a thought-leader in the intelligent video security industry. As chief technology officer and senior vice president of Aurora, Heartwell lead one of the first “Java shops” in the country which contributed extensively to early applications of Java, software agents and electronic health records. While at SAIC, Heartwell had a significant influence on distributed simulation and simulation-based training.
